Desire to Explore and Develop More Important than Life

 A mechanism of learning, a mechanism of evolution, in striving to be closer to God  often pushes a person towards the unexpected. 

I was surprised to learn that when a flight to Mars was advertised on the internet recently, which was one way only, it had no less than 10,000 volunteers. This was despite the fact that they all understood that it was a one way trip with no return and that they would die there. They still agreed to go.

Their willingness to die was part of a desire to explore and to develop, which was more important than life itself.  Without this,  life would not develop. 

 Sea explorers of the past would leave home understanding that it was unlikely that they would ever return in their quest to discover new continents and islands.
