One of the most difficult tests which is mentioned in the Bible is the Poor Job story.
It is a catastrophe: his children died, everything collapsed, he lost all his money, all respect, he had poor health, he is dying of leprosy - an incurable illness. The question is - why did this happen?
The Bible says that God decided to test him.
What did Job feel? First of all he complained to God: I am a good person, why did you punish me? This showed a dependency on righteousness, so to speak.
Righteouneness is a good thing but it’s essentially the same as money. It is wealth of the soul. It makes a person happy, it gives great possibilities. When someone says that good people have less than bad people, this is a naïve statement: being good is a wealth it itself which makes a person happy. Being good is not like having a dangerous job which requires additional remuneration.
In our subconscious we think that God must reward good people, and if God doesn’t reward people who we think are good, we wonder why. Why is it often said that good people have problems, illnesses and so on and bad or rude people have less problems? The answer is simple. A good person reads Bible, goes to church and is told not to hate, not to take offence, and a good person only has one position: if I am not allowed to hate or take offence, then I must suppress my feelings, keep them inside and not show them. And this is a big mistake.
Because offence and hate are just forms of defence.
We need to defend ourselves but we need to defend ourselves in the right way.
We should always transfer our negative energy to the surface, to transform this energy into the energy of helping the other person.
