Can special diets and fasting reduce pride and cleanse a person's soul
My interlocutor perks up and asks the following question:
«Autism is considered an incurable disease, but I recently read online about a woman who cured her child with just a diet.»
A three-year-old boy was diagnosed with autism, and the woman put him on a special diet, excluding all dairy products and grain dishes. Have you heard about this case?
The diet is gluten-free—that is, free from the protein found in grains, and casein-free, which is the main protein in milk.
«Yes, I am aware of this case. But there are additional nuances—besides dairy products and grains, the mother also prohibited the child from eating bread and sweets. Moreover, equally importantly, she herself adhered to the same diet.»
Let's ask ourselves the question: Can nutrition reduce pride and cleanse a person's soul? The answer is affirmative. If God is one, then so is a person, meaning the body, spirit, and soul are interconnected and affect each other as parts of a unified whole.
What is rich and calorie-dense food? It is an excess of external energy, which competes with the energy of love. Bread, sweets, high-calorie proteins—all represent excessive external energy. Strangely, on a subtle level, rich protein food enhances focus on a prosperous destiny and consciousness.
The liver, which is associated with the future, synthesizes proteins; thus, an excess of proteins along with calories intensifies focus on the future. A low-calorie diet and reduced protein intake stimulate the activation of subtle energy, and the soul comes to life.
Why did saints avoid rich, calorie-dense, meaty, and sweet food? Because they felt it harmed their souls. It is no coincidence that there is a saying: «Fed by the Holy Spirit.» Faith, love, and morality are necessary for the purity of the soul, and a proper lifestyle and proper nutrition are needed to maintain them.
Physical exercises, hardening, various forms of creativity—all stimulate internal energy and help the soul develop. Periodic restrictions in food, sex, and pleasures also lead to purification and activity of the human soul. Over four years, a child suffering from autism almost recovered. All this time, the mother had almost no sex—the theme of lust was closed off. The child's illness itself is a humiliation of high spiritual feelings, a degradation of destiny and future. Instead of feeling discontent and depression, the woman accepted the situation and met it head-on.
Many people, when ill, seek positive emotions and pleasures, thinking it will help. In this case, the mother of the autistic child did the opposite—amid the misfortune that befell her, she severely restricted food for herself and her child and began to engage in sports. Essentially, the same process sought by saints and hermits occurred. When there is a restriction in pleasures for the soul, spirit, and body, the soul seeks pleasure in communion with God. If there are no deep grievances, judgments, or despondency, the energy of love quickly penetrates the soul, and a new future opens up.
American doctors do not consider such a method of treatment serious, and to some extent, they are right. A strict diet, restriction in desires—these are just backgrounds that positively affect our feelings. But if love and faith do not arise in the soul, no diet can cure a person. If a woman is burdened and embarrassed by her sick child, her ability to help him becomes minimal.
— By the way, speaking of food, — I recall, — Smell and taste are practically the most ancient mechanisms of pleasure.
Hundreds of millions of years ago, our ancestors already derived pleasure through taste and smell. At that time, we were not yet humans, but we were already living beings. Thus, fasting allows us to curb desire at the deepest subconscious levels.
Therefore, if a person fasts, abstains from sex, and detaches from attachments that lead to grievance, judgment, or despondency, he can be cured of the most severe diseases, untreatable by modern medicine.
