My son decided to fast. Some time ago, he mentioned that he’d had a headache for two weeks, and no medication was helping.
«It’s a good thing they’re not helping,» I remarked. «You’ve lived freely, doing whatever you wanted, and now suddenly—here come restrictions on pleasures. Your body is rebelling; it can’t handle the stress.»
When fasting for the first time, you need to restrict yourself gradually, without fanaticism. The body must adapt. It’s a form of humbling one’s fate, a stressor. If approached correctly, the soul will undergo purification.
«Simply repeat that you accept Divine will with love,» I advised. «That way, pride will diminish, making it easier to handle the stress, and the pain will subside. If the pain worsens, allow yourself some leniency. Your intuition will guide you toward what you need most.»
«You don’t have to give up bread entirely, but it’s better to avoid sweets and dairy. Bread is highly caloric, so it’s best not to overindulge during fasting.»
«Sweets, I understand,» my son nodded. «But why can’t I drink milk?»
«Do you know what the doctor who examines women’s breasts is called?» I asked and answered myself: «A mammologist. Have you ever wondered why the words ‘Mammon,’ ‘mammologist,’ and ‘mama’ sound similar?»
«No.»
«Well, here’s the thing. The highest physical and sensual pleasure for a child is mother’s milk, which gives them life. The pagan god Mammon symbolizes pleasure.
Why do we need money? To obtain pleasure. People sometimes pat their stomachs and say, ‘Look at the Mammon I’ve grown.’
Drinking milk during fasting,» I continued, «can increase attachment to this world rather than love. Meat products heighten the soul’s aggression, while eggs increase pride. That’s why it’s better not to consume these during fasting.
However, you must understand one simple thing: giving up products that hinder love is possible only when the soul has grown stronger.
At first, it’s better not to completely abstain but to limit the consumption of foods that interfere with detachment, intensify attachment, or amplify aggression.
Do you know why, according to Jewish dietary laws, it’s forbidden to eat animals that walk on soft paws?»
«Because they’re predators. Their energy transfers to humans and can harm their souls.»
Another curious point relates to scale-less fish, shrimp, and crustaceans, which are also prohibited. I’ve analyzed them and found that they carry a program of self-destruction.
These are some of the Earth’s oldest living creatures, and their time is likely nearing an end. Their energy of aging can transfer to humans, pushing them toward degeneration.
This used to be purely theoretical. But recently, I spoke with a patient who shared fascinating information.
This young woman followed a healthy lifestyle: she didn’t eat meat, focusing on vegetables and seafood—mainly shrimp.
By the way, shrimp can be bought at the market for nearly half the price of meat. She had her blood tested, and her cholesterol levels were abnormally high. Typically, such levels are seen in the elderly.
Recently, I read a book by a Japanese doctor stating that elevated cholesterol is linked to unresolved stress.
And unresolved stress accelerates aging. Here, everything came together.
The energy of food can influence a person’s soul and fate. When, during fasting, a person abstains from pleasures associated with diverse foods, prays, and focuses on love, their soul and fate undergo purification.
As a wise Orthodox priest once said, paradise is direct communion with God.
The first man, Adam, was cast out of paradise for his sins. He deprived himself of unity with the Creator.
In essence, fasting is an opportunity to return to paradise for a while. To do this, one must detach from everything and pray, striving toward God.
