Our current civilization has no future. The present, materialistic civilization does not need the soul. The laws of modern society protect the body and property of a person, protect his spirit in the form of intellectual property, copyright, etc. But they do not protect love, soul, and morality. On the contrary, sin is presented as a virtue, and this is called political correctness. Yet, even the current, dying civilization has a chance. Modern humanity, like a sinking ship, needs to telegraph a distress signal to the whole surrounding world: «SOS: save our souls!»
And still, how did people with undeveloped religious thinking live in the past? How do animals live? And suddenly I realize that when a person is sick, when he physically suffers, when he voluntarily or forcibly starves and endures deprivation, his main point of support automatically shifts to what is less destroyed, that is, to the spirit, to consciousness. That is why people who have experienced physical deprivation become stronger in spirit. In battle, the spiritually strong win, so physical trials have always been necessary to form strong warriors.
Therefore, the concept of initiation always existed in primitive tribes. A young man, having reached sexual maturity, had to undergo trials of physical pain, deprivation, mortal danger - to strengthen the spirit. Strong men give birth to healthy children. As primitive tribes developed, spiritual trials were added to physical ones.
First and foremost, it was overcoming the fear of death. It was necessary to preserve the inner «I» during the disintegration of the future. And this is possible when the point of support shifts to an even more stable structure - the soul. Thus, the process of development of primitive man consisted in the gradual transfer of main values from the body - to the spirit, and then - to the soul. The concept of monotheism could not have arisen without recognizing the soul and morality as the main values. Even if a person does not think about God and has no religious beliefs, the survival mechanism still works, as it is fixed by hundreds of millions of years. Its essence is that when the physical shell suffers and is destroyed, the spiritual shell becomes much more active, that is, when the physical structure weakens, the field structure is activated.
Therefore, even an animal, when sick and dying, subconsciously activates its spirit and soul. The main «I» of a living being ceases to be associated with the body, then with consciousness, and begins to be associated with the soul. That is, when the transient is destroyed, we begin to associate ourselves with eternity.
If we re-read the Old Testament, we see continuous wars, killings, and destruction. Constant physical deprivation and restrictions, the daily possibility of losing the future along with life, pushed man to such a concept as the soul, to care for it, forming religious beliefs. Therefore, in Judaism, the strictest punishment was intended for those who committed crimes against the soul and morality. Modern society has become satiated, protected, and prosperous. The forced mechanism of saving the soul, acquiring morality, love, and faith gradually ceased to work. Thus, the current civilization has only two future options: either return to paganism - to violence, deaths, and wars, and then perish, or take care of the soul and acquire love and faith voluntarily. So far, it seems that everything is moving according to the first scenario. People cannot endure the pain of the soul for a simple reason. If the soul is destroyed, it can be endured only when you go beyond the soul - when you move from the human half of the soul to the eternal, Divine. If the love of God is truly perceived as much greater happiness than everything else, only then the point of support during the disintegration of the soul can be shifted to eternity. If the highest commandment of Hinduism, Judaism, and Christianity, which says, «Love God above all else», is not fulfilled, the pain of the soul becomes unbearable. Then a person, instead of returning to God when the soul disintegrates, rejects the soul and goes down to consciousness or the body. To alleviate the soul's torment, he unconsciously reaches for spiritual pain and physical suffering.
Spiritual pain is simple - misfortunes, troubles by fate, the collapse of fate, the collapse of goals and hopes, betrayal, injustice from people. Sometimes it looks like madness, loss of memory, blindness. I think there is no need to explain what physical pain looks like. Diseases, disability, disabling various functions - all this can be echoes of problems in a person's soul.
For some reason, I remember the life of Vrubel. The main problem of a genius is often that his energy, talent is not sufficiently provided with the ability to love and, therefore, to endure the pain of the soul. A friend of mine, an artist, told me about a fact from Vrubel's biography, a fact that was omitted from official books. A friend of Vrubel, who was swimming in the river with him, noticed that his entire chest was covered in scars. It turns out that in his youth, the artist fell madly in love, and then began to experience problems with unrequited love. The soul pain was so unbearable that the artist cut his chest with a knife to turn soul pain into physical pain. Instead of detachment and turning to God, the opposite process took place: a powerful explosion of non-acceptance of what was happening and worshiping consciousness, abilities. And this is already a devilish process. Therefore, Vrubel paints pictures depicting a demon. He tries to overcome his own demonism by depicting the devil as suffering and defeated. But demonism is conquered by faith and love. If they are not in the soul of the artist, he is doomed. Vrubel's subsequent fate is well known.
His son was born with a cleft lip - a sign of increased concentration on abilities, on the future, lived a short life, and died of pneumonia. The problem with the lungs is pride. It's worshiping the future again, superiority over others, it's a dying soul that man has ceased to care about. Then Vrubel goes mad and blind, then dies. Millions and millions of people have gone through this circle. Nations and states have gone through this circle. The current humanity is going through this circle...
