Love and Detachment. The Dialectic of the Divine

How do criminals come into this world?

First, parents, forgetting about God and love, indulge their desires and merge their souls. Every person internally should be absolutely lonely. Then, to overcome this loneliness, he will strive for unity with God. If there is not enough internal loneliness, a person should become lonely externally. Therefore, people went to monasteries, became hermits, took vows of silence. If, however, the highest happiness for a person is the internal unity with a loved one, then such a worldview will inevitably lead to external loneliness. That is, there will be infidelity, divorces, etc. But this is not the worst. Children are born, deprived of emotional immunity. The slightest warm feelings for another, and the soul immediately begins to grow attached. And as strange as it sounds, to save their own souls, people become criminals.

On one hand, they feel that they cannot love other people, as it is dangerous for them. On the other hand, they feel that the best attitude towards another person is like towards a calf, which you must slaughter in the fall. Accordingly, the feelings are even, calm, without anguish. We all remember the phrase of Jesus Christ:

«Love your neighbor as yourself» - and we try to follow it.

But, firstly, this was said long before Christ. And if we read the Old Testament, we will be convinced of this. Secondly, we all, remembering Christ's commandment of love for each other, forgot his other phrase:

«A man's enemies will be the members of his own household.»

It is close people who, internally attaching and merging souls, kill us, making us forget about God and lose the feeling of love that unites us with Him. We do not know how to think. We think in terms of either good or evil, either right or left. That relatives can be a great blessing and good for us and at the same time pose a huge danger to our souls is difficult for us to understand.

Socialism untaught us to think dialectically. Yet any religion, combining the interests of the Divine and the human, helps to think dialectically. And one of such brilliant thinkers was Jesus Christ. But long before Him, in Judaism and Indian philosophy, there were excellent examples of harmonious thinking.

A few years ago, I was surprised to learn that in Indian philosophy there is the concept of paired virtues. A virtue cannot exist alone, by itself. It must be balanced by its opposite.

A generous person can become a beggar and a waster. Therefore, generosity must be balanced by thrift.

Courage must be balanced by caution. Love - by detachment.

Kind-heartedness - by strictness.

Sociability - by detachment, etc.

Looking at modern technical achievements, we call ourselves civilized and wise people. In reality, we are just learning to think. And we don't always succeed. What is intelligence? It is abstract thinking. To abstract from the chair we are sitting on, we must create the concept of 'chair', and for this, we must emotionally detach from the attachment to a specific chair but maintain a connection with its essence.

To break external ties, we need the ability to accept pain, the ability to restrain our attachments and desires, the ability to detach from habitual ties, including life itself. And to maintain unity with the essence of a phenomenon or object, we need a sense of love.

Thus, the highest feelings, the development of consciousness are impossible without love for God, for only it allows us to break external ties, detach from a loved one, maintaining love for him as a manifestation of the Divine.
